What happened

Stratasys announced the F870 on September 9, naming Toyota Production Engineering in Kentucky and Rivian Automotive in Michigan among organizations adopting the platform. The release describes assessment work ahead of commercial availability, rather than a completed fleet-wide deployment.

The stated build volume is 1,000 × 610 × 610 mm in a heated chamber. Supported materials listed at launch include Nylon 12CF, ASA, ABS and ABS Draft. Target applications include assembly fixtures, inspection gauges, manufacturing aids and larger prototypes.

The announcement places the printer within factory operations where tooling lead times matter. Its cost and productivity positioning comes from Stratasys; the release is not a comparative benchmark against other machines.
