What happened

V2 Group and Caracol reported development of a functional six-meter monolithic catamaran in February 2025. The project used robotic large-format printing to explore boat production.

The partners describe work across design, materials, printing, post-processing and testing. Their objective was to identify the steps required to make the process repeatable at an industrial scale.

The demonstration is relevant to marine manufacturing, but it is not evidence that fleet-scale production has already been achieved. It adds context to newer stories about printed boat tooling and hybrid manufacturing.
