The updated guide discusses support interfaces, flexible inserts and the limits of filament compatibility.

What happened

Sovol’s September update to its M1D material guide moves beyond multicolor printing to the roles different polymers can play within a job. Examples include a structural material, a removable support interface and a flexible feature.

The guide explains that separate toolheads do not make arbitrary polymers compatible. Materials still need suitable processing temperatures and adhesion behavior. A pair selected to separate cleanly at a support interface may be unsuitable for a permanent joint.

It also distinguishes using specialist material for an entire support from using it only at the contact layers. That choice affects consumption and finishing effort. Calibration and representative sample prints remain part of developing a reliable combination.
