What happened

Formlabs’ September case study describes Lightcraft using a Fuse 1+ 30W for drone prototyping and manufacturing. The company makes customized aircraft, where short runs can make outsourced parts expensive and slow.

The account describes engineers iterating overnight and moving body parts and mounts from external suppliers to in-house production. Keeping fabrication close to design allows changes to be evaluated sooner.

The reported turnaround improvements reflect this company’s workflow. They should not be treated as a universal promise for every drone design or a substitute for flight qualification.
