What happened

IU Health marked the launch of its enhanced 3D Print Studio at the 16 Tech Innovation District in June. Developed with Ricoh 3D for Healthcare, the service produces patient-specific anatomical models for clinical planning and communication.

Physical models give teams another way to inspect complex anatomy, consider device sizing and prepare for a procedure. They can also help patients and families understand what a clinical team is discussing.

The announcement describes FDA-cleared workflows and specified applications, rather than unrestricted approval for anything made on a hospital printer. Its practical significance is the integration of model production, clinician feedback and managed services within the health system.
