NASA-backed research helps Branch Technology develop printed building panels
Lightweight printed lattices support architectural components rather than solid, fully printed walls.

What happened
NASA’s May application report follows Branch Technology’s work from habitat research to architectural products on Earth. The company uses freeform polymer printing to create lightweight lattice structures that can be covered or filled.
The approach supports modular elements such as wall panels and cladding, including shapes that would be cumbersome to fabricate conventionally. Branch’s work on a lunar-habitat prototype helped it develop its printing processes and material knowledge.
The connection is a transfer of manufacturing expertise, not evidence of a functioning lunar building. On Earth, the practical application is a printed framework within a larger finished component, with other materials and construction operations providing the rest of the assembly.
