What happened

Caracol’s IMTS 2026 preview described microfactories combining robotic printing, automation and other manufacturing operations. Display examples included a satellite tank, ship propeller, flange and motorsport tooling.

The company also announced its membership in America Makes. Its US expansion includes work with Freeman Boatworks, which selected a hybrid Heron system combining additive manufacturing with CNC machining.

The model aims to bring production closer to where parts are needed. The announcement provides examples and deployment plans, rather than independently measured savings for every proposed microfactory.
