Apple brings printed titanium to high-volume watch cases
Apple’s 2025 manufacturing account describes additive production of cosmetic metal enclosures.

What happened
Apple reported on November 18, 2025, that all Apple Watch Ultra 3 and titanium Series 11 cases were being 3D printed using recycled titanium powder. The account describes years of process development.
Apple said the method used half the raw material of the preceding generations and estimated more than 400 metric tons of raw titanium savings during 2025. These are Apple’s reported comparisons.
Printing is followed by powder removal, separation, inspection and finishing. The case is a printed component within an assembled watch, not evidence that the entire device is additively manufactured.
