Build claims retained for review: product comparison 335 × 200 × 300 mm; current PreForm design guidance 335 × 200 × 320 mm. No automated fit filtering should use either until reconciled.
How LFS works
A moving Light Processing Unit uses lenses and mirrors to deliver the laser perpendicular to the build plane. A flexible tank reduces separation forces during printing. Form 3 uses one optical unit, while Form 3L uses two.
Workflow and service
The introduction describes remote job submission, a shared queue, sensing and alerts, and user-replaceable components. These features belong to the LFS generation; they should not be confused with the LCD-based Form 4 print engine.
Introduced in 2019.
Announced for preorder April 2, 2019. Formlabs separately confirms shipping began in September 2020.

What changed
- Scaled LFS to a large-format system with two laser units and automatic dispensing from two resin cartridges.
Read this with the specifications
Current support lists new and factory-reconditioned Form 3L while stock lasts through 2026. Build remains null because the product page states 335 × 200 × 300 mm while current support states 335 × 200 × 320 mm; this audit has not resolved the revision/context difference.
A larger nominal envelope does not establish better print quality. Fit depends on the configuration, usable area, supports, and orientation.
