GE reaches 30,000 additively manufactured fuel nozzle tips
The Auburn production milestone provided an early example of repeated metal printing at industrial scale.

What happened
GE Aviation reported its 30,000th additively manufactured fuel nozzle tip in October 2018. The part came from the company’s Auburn, Alabama facility, where additive production had begun in 2015.
At the time of the announcement, GE said more than 40 printers were producing parts from metal powder at the plant. The milestone described accumulated production, not the output of a single machine or a single year.
The report was a manufacturer account of its own operations. Its value in the archive is the clear distinction between experimental printing and a sustained production program.
